Extended possibilities within MIRhosting cloud. Release 4.10.2

Friends! As usual we want to share new possibilities of our cloud platform with you, which are available for each MIRhosting’s user starting from today.

Ubuntu Support for Elastic VPS

Elastic Virtual Private Server represents a bare independent virtual machine. Extending the number of supported OS distributions for this kind of stack, the present Platform upgrade includes provision of Jelastic-certified Ubuntu template for VPS hosting. The exact version of delivered OS distribution is the latest stable Ubuntu 16.04 release. This allows users to get all the functionality of isolated scalable VPS, simultaneously enhanced with Ubuntu performance capabilities.

Just as the rest of virtual private servers, Ubuntu-based VPS instance can be created right through the corresponding VPS section of the environment wizard. Herewith, unlike CentOS-based VPS instances, this stack doesn’t provide the inbuilt web interface for its management. Thus, all of the configurations should be applied through connecting to a node via SSH, where the full root permissions are granted.

Export/Import for Docker Containers

The environment export/import feature support was implemented for Docker-based containers. From now on, you can effortlessly move environments containing such instances across platform and the local machine.

Similarly to the Storage, VPS and Maven nodes, Docker containers are created from scratch when migrated and won’t include any custom data (so the appropriate Private Data and Configuration File options are disabled for selection within the export frame). Thus, if needed, a user should apply the corresponding changes and integrate the needed data to them manually afterwards.

Herewith, the main Docker containers settings (such as variables, links, local volumes and run configs) will remain applied to containers at a new environment location. They are set same for all instances within the appropriate environment layer based on the master node settings.

Environment Groups

Environment Groups is a new management entity, which facilitates operating multiple environments though attaching special tags and applying filtering on their base. Being mainly aimed to help in structuring large amount of created (or shared with an account) environments, this feature can be also helpful in smart administrating of even a couple of applications.

The process of such groups creation is based on attaching user-defined tags, so that separate environments can be filtered by one or more attributes (e.g. stack type, project relation, development stage, etc). If needed, each division can be parted further into smaller subdivisions, as well as each environment can belong to multiple groups, which makes this approach truly flexible and versatile.

These and a lot more changes you can see in the user’s cloud dashboard. If you have not registered yet, do it right away and start using amazing functionality of MIRhosting cloud.
